Chris RalstonCentral Operations Manager
Growing up in Marietta, GA I drove past Hertz a million times and always thought it would be a cool place to work with a lot of opportunity. After graduating from Lassiter High School, then Chattahoochee Technical College, a friend told me there was an entry level position open at the Marietta branch. After my first interview, meeting the people, and touring the facility, I knew this was where I wanted to build my career. I started with Herc Rentals as a Yard worker — washing equipment and learning the basics. After about a year I was promoted to a Truck Driver position. In this position, I delivered small equipment for a few years. I then studied and practiced to get my CDL class A and was promoted to Tractor Trailer Driver. I drove a “Low Boy” and then “Drop Deck” tractor trailer for approximately 5 years. Then I decided I would like to pursue opportunities within the branch and learn more about repairing and troubleshooting the equipment. I took an opening in the shop for a “C” Mechanic. After some hard work and coaching, I was promoted to higher levels of Mechanic and then to Shop Supervisor. I managed the shop for five years and was proud to win the 2006 & 2007 Maintenance Standard and Compliance Award with my team. In 2009, I was approached about heading the Centralized Field Service Department for the Atlanta area. I was promoted to Centralized Field Service Manager where I implemented and managed this new department for five years. In August of 2015, I was extremely excited for my promotion to Central Operations Manager where I oversee the Marietta Branch operations, Central Logistics, Central Reservations, and Central Field Service.
From my first day here, Herc Rentals has shown me that with hard work and dedication, the sky’s the limit! For almost 20 years, I have felt like part of a team and can’t thank the people enough who believed in me, coached me, and mentored me along this journey. The people I have worked with have been amazing. Today, I enjoy giving this experience back to my employees.
I would say, if you’re looking for a positive “Team” environment to work in with many opportunities to grow and be successful, you’ve found it! Challenge yourself and see where it takes you.
