WHAT IS ESGR?

Herc Rentals’ commitment to hiring and supporting veterans in its ranks is backed by its Statement of Support Program, a cornerstone of ESGR’s mission to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers. The ESGR or Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve is a Department of Defense program established in 1972 that involves volunteers who assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee's military commitment. These volunteers work to promote and enhance employer support for military service in the Guard and Reserve. In July of 2019, Herc Rentals senior leadership met with representatives from the United States Department of Defense and affirmed its commitment as a military employer during a special signing session at the company’s headquarters in Bonita Springs, FL.

In early 2019, Herc Rentals launched a Veteran Resource Group to support and mentor the company’s service members and provide opportunities to learn and work with fellow veteran and military team members.

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are built to enable employees with common interests, backgrounds or demographics to collaborate, support one another and learn together. These groups also foster a more inclusive environment and support the overall wellbeing of colleagues in the work place.

Group functions include virtual quarterly group meetings, veteran recognition by senior leaders and promoting community involvement.

Additionally, the Veterans Resource Group also works with Herc Rentals’ recruiters and its Human Resources Department to help the company find, attract and retain veterans while providing them with the tools, education and experience needed to do the job.

The program is open to all Team Herc veterans, regardless of the countries they served.
