Short Description

We are looking for someone to become a key part of our team and perform a dual role of ServiceNow Application Developer II. This Application Developer role plays an important part in Herc Rentals Service transformation and IT Service Management. He/she will continue to enhance their knowledge of the industry to remain in the know of what is relevant in the market and to identify new opportunities. As new technologies emerge and impact ServiceNow, the ServiceNow Developer is expected to learn these applications quickly and resolve any problems involved in integrating new applications with our systems.

The ideal candidate maintains a positive demeanor and is a team player with a desire to impact change. The candidate has strong analytical and technical skills along with demonstrated ability to not only get things done as an individual but to help lead projects in a customer-drive, fast-paced collaborative team environment.  The candidate will understand ServiceNow functionality and how all ITIL processes can be implemented in ServiceNow.

Job Purpose

As part of an Application Development team, this individual analyzes business requirements and problems and drives research to design quality technical solutions. The ServiceNow Developer will be responsible for core system configuration and developing business solutions in the ServiceNow platform. Gathering and documenting user and process requirements, functional requirements, and developing technical requirements. Developing workflow customizations and supporting service transformation projects and initiatives. This individual will be involved in portions of full systems life cycle and is responsible for designing, coding, testing, implementing, maintaining and supporting the ServiceNow application. Handles complex problems independently and demonstrates analytical thinking. Can make judgements and recommendations based on the analysis and interpretation of data.



Responsible for the design and build of ServiceNow Applications and integration to other applications and platforms; including best practices and methodologies in an Agile Scrum environment.

Design, code, test, and analyze ServiceNow applications and integrations including research, design, documenting and modifying throughout the production lifecycle

Implements ServiceNow customization's including UI Policies, UI Actions, Business Rules, Client Scripts, workflow administration, and data import

Performs configuration, integration, custom scripting related to ServiceNow platform based on business requirement

Performs process automation using ServiceNow IntegrationHub (experience migrating from Orchestration to IntegrationHub Spokes)

Proactively researches and recommends enhancements to ServiceNow environment

Customizes ServiceNow configurations, including custom scripts, workflows, and orchestration activities

Ensures ITIL compliance and industry best practice process design, representing thorough understanding of ITIL/ITSM processes.

Professional Experience

3+ years of prior relevant experience with development
3+ years’ experience in design, development and deployment experience with the ServiceNow platform.
3+ years’ experience working within the ServiceNow Platform.
3+ years’ experience designing, developing, testing, implementing, integrating, and supporting applications
3+ years development experience within the Service Portal module
3+ years’ experience automating external processes using MID Server, Flow Designer, Pre-built orchestrations & plug-ins, JDBC, PowerShell, LDAP, SQL, & SFTP
3+ years’ experience developing complex workflows within the Service Catalog
2+ years’ experience developing and customizing the ServiceNow application (using PowerShell, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XML, SOAP and/or REST Web services)
3+ years’ experience in Glide and Jelly Scripting, Java Script, HTML, XML, AJAX.
3+ years’ experience developing using JavaScript, Glide, Flow Designer
Comfortable working in a high paced work environment and can adapt to rapidly changing business drivers.
Experience with service portal development
Experience developing and/or troubleshooting integrations for Active Directory, 3rd Party plug-ins, O365, and/or Azure AD
Strong analytical skills, well-versed in ServiceNow configurations, and is solution oriented.
Self-starter, with quick learning curve.
Strong written and verbal communication.
Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology, with participation in at least 2 full application development life cycle: Analysis, Design, Coding, Testing and promotion into Production
Knowledge of one or more of the following: HTML/CSS, AJAX, Jelly, JSON, AngularJS.
Experience in all areas of the Java development platform
Experience developing integrations with 3rd party tools using (web services, SOAP, email, MID, etc.).
ServiceNow administration experience.
Proficient with JavaScript and ServiceNow related APIs
Experience building custom automation workflows and development of customized modules
Experience creating and managing project documentation
Demonstrate a high degree of customer service and teamwork
Excellent communication skills, analytical ability, strong judgment and leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively with clients and IT management and staffs, both technical and non-technical

Educational Background

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Development, or other related field or recent equivalent work experience.
