Short Description

We are searching for a dynamic individual with experience in safety training to be a part of our team. You are an instructor who can consistently lead training sessions with energy, intelligence, honesty and charm - someone who will be able to engage and interact with employees of any level or in any industry. Under the direction of the Product Training Supervisor, the Product Safety Trainer performs a wide range of activities related to safety training and safety program administration.  This position requires working onsite with various clients and their employees; the role also supports Herc branch personnel on safety training matters, as well as research and follow-up work completed at the office. Experience with required regulatory compliance is expected. You are detail-oriented and have excellent computer & technology skills, primarily with Microsoft Suite software.



  • Provide equipment safety training to customers in areas where trained and certified in accordance with Herc/OSSA training policies and procedures
  • Receive customer calls and work with customers to schedule classes
  • Track training, prepare and deliver certificates/wallet cards to customers, prepare invoices for customer. 
  • Full completion of the training documentation as per Herc/OSSA Procedure.
  • Work with Branch Managers to ensure all employees' safety training is up-to-date. Provide necessary training if incomplete.
  • Assist Branch Management with compliance with the company safety training program.
  • Monitor and assist with the completion of recurrent training. 
  • Ensure that all safety training is entered into Training/Learning Management System
  • Conduct training in specialized areas as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Work with Area and Zone operations and sales management to create training marketing tools
  • Territory management and revenue growth through on site visits to customer job sites 
  • Contact potential customers via telephone or internet 
  • Plan and organize business strategies to achieve desired results; exceed quotas by providing top class equipment/safety training.
  • Identify customer needs and react appropriately while understanding market conditions and local competitor pricing 
  • Make sales calls along with Sales Reps, Shop Supervisors to develop the market
  • Report all sales initiative to Region/Area Safety Manager on a monthly basis


  • Assessing HERC employee and customer training needs, developing and/or improving training programs
  • Communicating effectively, verbally and in writing, in a diverse range of audiences and settings
  • Computer competence and the ability to use media effectively
  • Effective questioning and feedback
  • Interpreting legal documents and government regulations both domestic and international
  • Maintaining order in an environment of changing priorities
  • Performing and evaluating instructional design analyses
  • Persuasion and negotiation of conflicts and problems
  • Using a variety of learning/training concepts and principles is required along with a knowledge of adult learning
  • Using solid project and time management to achieve objectives
  • Working long and irregular hours, and under pressure conditions

Professional Experience

Knowledge of equipment operation and safety
Able to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, in a diverse range of audiences and settings
2 years’ experience performing responsible safety training/coordination
Able to work independently in absence of direct supervision
Principles and practices of safety training including equipment safety training

Educational Background

University/College degree or equivalent experience

Conditions of Employment

A valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Able to lift and transport training equipment, and set up classrooms
Advanced knowledge Microsoft Office, Office 365, and common productivity applications
3 - 5 years sales experience
Ability to travel (~50%)
