Short Description

Under the direction of the Product Training Supervisor, the Product Safety Trainer performs a wide range of activities related to safety training and safety program administration.  This position requires working onsite with various clients and their employees; the role also supports Herc branch personnel on safety training matters, as well as research and follow-up work completed at the office. Experience with required regulatory compliance is expected. You are detail-oriented and have excellent computer & technology skills, primarily with Microsoft Suite software.

Responsibilities

 

  • Schedule and conduct safety training based on customer needs. Courses include but are not limited to Forklift, Mobile Elevating Work Platform, Skid Steer, Mini Excavators and Fall Protection.
  • Provide training sessions at branch locations or on-site which may require province wide, or inter-provincial travel.
  • Assist in coordinating continuing education and training for internal employees and coordinate equipment for hands on demonstrations and evaluations.
  • Perform all administrative duties associated with conducting training
  • Knowledge of Federal and Provincial occupational safety regulations including standards such as CSA, ANSI, and other non-regulatory safety codes and standards
  • Research and develop training materials to improve presentations. As training material updates are received/made, provides training materials to managers and/or employees and/or conducts training.
  • Team facilitation skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional settings. Must be a strong team player with the ability to organize, prioritize, handle time constraints and manage shifting priorities.
  • Demonstrated mastery of sales skills such as selling value over price and selling the value of training to our internal sales force and potential customers.
  • Work with our sales, marketing and operations functions to support the customer-facing safety requirements and meet with customers to actively communicate programs and progress of objectives. Propose customized training packages based on unique needs of each customer.
  • Assist branch management in evaluating their product safety training program, developing corrective action plans and facilitating safety training action plan completion. Attend train-the trainer courses, conferences, and seminars as determined by Product Training Supervisor, requiring periodic travel. Carry out other duties, as requested by the Product Training Supervisor and North American Safety Training Leader.

Professional Experience

  • Experience applying a variety of development approaches that span formal training, relationship-based, experience-based development and technical training including the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, in a diverse range of audiences and settings
  • Outside Sales experience required
  • ESC (Energy Safety Canada) Training Credentials required

Educational Background

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent industry experience. Specific education in training/teaching/development is a plus.

Conditions of Employment

  • Minimum 3 years practical experience operating equipment and training group sessions
  • 3 years Outside Sales experience
  • Energy Safety Canada Training Credentials
  • Knowledge of teaching aids and equipment, selection of training methodologies
  • Must have advanced computer skills
  • Able to lift and transport training equipment, and set up classrooms
  • Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time to Fort McMurray
