Welcome to Herc Rentals’s Career Site (“Site”). The Recruitment Privacy Policy (“Policy”) of Herc Rentals Inc., a Division of the Hertz Corporation, describes how The Hertz Corporation, its subsidiaries, affiliates, and joint ventures (collectively referred to as “Hertz” or “we”) handle your personally identifiable information collected via this Site.

Personally identifiable information you submit through our Site will be collected and stored on servers in the United States, and may be shared with our affiliated legal entities in the United States, including Herc Rentals Inc., Hertz Claim Management Corporation, Hertz System, Inc., and businesses known as Hertz Local Edition and Hertz Car Sales, as described in this Policy. This Policy is governed by United States law.

By providing personally identifiable information to this Site, you expressly consent to our collection, storage, use, transfer, and disclosure of personally identifiable information about you, including any sensitive information you elect to submit, as described in this Policy.

You are free to decide what types of personally identifiable information, if any, to submit to us. Submitting your personally identifiable information is entirely voluntary. However, if you choose not to submit your personally identifiable information, this may limit our ability to consider your candidacy. Please read this Policy carefully.

You may browse the Site without providing any personally identifiable information. However, to submit an application or resume, you will be required to submit personally identifiable information otherwise we may not be able to process your application.

We may collect and store the following types of personally identifiable information:

  • name, address, telephone number, email address, other contact information;
  • log-in and password;
  • resume or CV, cover letter, previous work experience, education, transcript;
  • desired salary, relevant work experience, type of employment sought, date available;
  • information relating to drivers' licenses;
  • criminal background history;
  • social security number or national identification number;
  • how you heard about the position, employee referral; and
  • information relating to references.

If you intend to provide us with details of a reference, prior supervisor or any other third party, it is your responsibility to obtain such third party’s consent prior to passing their personally identifiable information to us.

You are responsible for the content of the information you provide to us and you must ensure it is legal, honest, truthful, accurate and not misleading in any way. You must ensure that the information provided by you does not contain material that is obscene, blasphemous, defamatory, infringing on any rights of any third party, or otherwise legally actionable by such third party.

Your application and any additional personally identifiable information you provide will be used to:

  • assess your skills and interest in job opportunities at Hertz;
  • conduct reference checks, background checks and verify the information you provide;
  • create and submit reports as required by law or regulation; and
  • contact you about career opportunities.

Personally identifiable information about you will be added to Hertz’s candidate database and will be used for the purposes of considering whether you are suitable for other job vacancies at Hertz.

The information you submit will be stored in the United States and will be reviewed and used for the above mentioned purposes by employees, consultants and/or service providers, such as recruiters for Hertz legal entities.

Personally identifiable information about you may also be disclosed by Hertz to third parties who provide services such as Web site hosting or information technology consulting services; Web site management; data analysis; legal services; accounting services; and other administrative and back-up and security services.

Service providers or consultants acting on Hertz’s behalf will be obligated to protect your personally identifiable information. Access to your personally identifiable information will be limited to individuals who have a business need to access such personally identifiable information and may include recruiters, human resources personnel, technology support, and managers or their designees.

We may also disclose personally identifiable information about you in order to: (1) protect the legal rights, privacy or safety of Hertz or its employees, agents and contractors; (2) protect the safety and security of visitors to our Web sites or other properties; (3) protect against fraud or other illegal activity; (4) respond to inquiries or requests from public authorities; (5) permit us to pursue available remedies or limit the damages that we may sustain; or (6) comply with the law or legal process.

In the event there is a change in the corporate structure of Hertz, including without limitation, merger, consolidation, sale, liquidation or transfer of substantial assets, Hertz may, in its sole and absolute discretion, transfer, sell or assign information collected on and through the Site, including without limitation, personally identifiable information concerning visitors, to one or more affiliated or unaffiliated third parties.

Data Retention
We are required to retain information of candidates applying for jobs within the United States. Personally identifiable information of candidates applying for jobs in other parts of the world will be retained in accordance with local law. All candidates are encouraged to update their data when appropriate.

If you accept a position with Hertz, the information collected on this Site will become part of your personnel record and will be used for employment/work-related purposes.

We may delete your personally identifiable information at any time (including your CV/resume), without any reason. Therefore, please retain your own copy of anything provided to us.

You can access, review, and change most of your personally identifiable information by logging into the Site. We encourage you to promptly update your personally identifiable information if it changes or is inaccurate. Upon your request, we will deactivate or remove your personally identifiable information from our active databases, although some information may be retained as permitted or required by law.

We have security measures and tools, such as firewalls, in place to help protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, although we strive to protect personally identifiable information we collect, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us through or in connection with the Site. If you have reason to believe that your interaction with us is no longer secure (for example, if you feel that the security of your account has been compromised), please notify us immediately of the problem by contacting us in accordance with the section entitled "Questions" below.

To the extent the personally identifiable information you provide contains details of your: racial or ethnic origin; political opinions or beliefs; religious beliefs; membership in a trade union or political party; physical or mental health or condition; sexual life; commission (or alleged commission) of an offence or related proceedings; job evaluations or educational records, you expressly authorize Hertz to handle such details for the purposes of your job application.

For those persons submitting information in Europe: By agreeing to this Policy, you agree to the transfer of personally identifiable information about you to countries outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”), to countries with a different data protection regime than in place in the EEA. Hertz will take appropriate technical, organizational, and legal steps to secure personally identifiable information about you.

Changes to this Policy
We may change this Policy from time to time. All changes to this Policy are effective after they are initially posted on this Site. If you do not agree to the changes, please contact us to deactivate your account. You can always tell when we have last updated the Policy by checking in the “Last Updated” line at the beginning of this Policy.
