MECHANICS

Whether your background is in technical, mechanical, automotive or maintenance, Herc Rentals is looking for expertise and support in keeping our fleet running at full strength.

Ideal candidates for these positions will be experienced in a fast-paced and exciting work environment while drawing on their expertise to support the needs of the branch in a professional, safe and timely manner. Job requirements include keeping all equipment operating at peak performance levels through an effective preventive maintenance program while also diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing damaged or malfunctioning equipment.

Some positions, such as leadership roles and special equipment technicians like power generation and HVAC, require expertise and mastery of the technical trade, product knowledge and meet or exceed the highest standards quality set by Herc Rentals.

responsibilities

Ideal position for someone new to the industry and looking to gain skills working with heavy equipment

General light maintenance

Conduct oil changes, lubrication of equipment, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements and assorted services

50 point inspections
Operate and test equipment
Produce timely and detailed service reports

Basic understanding of the following:

Internal combustion engines (both gas and diesel)
DC electrical systems 12, 24, 48 volts
Propane systems
Hydraulics
Track equipment
Aerial equipment
Heavy trucks/automobiles

Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot:

Fuel systems
Electrical systems
Hydraulic systems
Propane systems

Perform major repairs on equipment using hand tools, machine tools and measuring instruments
Diagnose and troubleshoot fuel systems, electrical systems, hydraulic systems and propane systems
Recondition and replace assorted parts of heavy equipment
Diagnose problem areas for any significant wear or tear on the equipment
Follow all of the company’s filed procedures and protocols

Perform all mechanic responsibilities in the field and onsite
Interact directly with the customers
Work as a representative of Herc Rentals in a company service truck
