Job Purpose

The Business Intelligence Analyst will serve as a key liaison between business stakeholders and the BI/Data team, driving the full lifecycle of BI projects and analytical initiatives. This role is responsible for translating business needs into actionable data solutions, ensuring quality delivery, and maintaining visibility across all active workstreams.

What you will do...

  • Facilitate discovery sessions and workshops to elicit, document, and prioritize BI and reporting requirements, translating business needs into clear functional and technical specifications for developers and data engineers
  • Ensure all business needs are addressed throughout the project lifecycle, serving as the primary point of contact between business users and the BI development team
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including Finance, Operations, Sales, and IT to align data definitions, KPIs, and reporting standards
  • Manage delivery of BI projects from initiation through deployment, defining project scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders and technical teams
  • Create and maintain project plans, task lists, and sprint backlogs while identifying, escalating, and managing risks, issues, and dependencies in a timely manner
  • Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and UAT sessions with business stakeholders, capturing and tracking feedback through to resolution and ensuring all deliverables meet defined acceptance criteria
  • Gather and incorporate user feedback to continuously improve the usability and relevance of BI deliverables
  • Maintain up-to-date project status reports for leadership visibility, facilitate regular stand-ups and stakeholder update meetings, and communicate milestones, risks, and blockers proactively to all relevant parties
  • Report on BI team activity including delivery metrics, backlog health, and delivery velocity to support planning and prioritization
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation including business requirements, process flows, data dictionaries, and user guides, while developing training materials and conducting onboarding sessions for new report users
  • Maintain a centralized repository of BI assets and project artifacts, capturing and sharing lessons learned to drive continuous improvement across the BI practice

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience with Qlik Sense for dashboard development, analysis, or UAT is preferred
  • Experience working with Teradata as a data warehouse platform, or other large enterprise data platforms
  • Working knowledge of SQL for data validation, ad hoc analysis, and requirements verification

Skills

  • 3–5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in a BI or data-focused environment
  • Experience in the equipment rental, construction, or industrial services industry
  • Experience working in Agile or Scrum delivery frameworks
  • Knowledge of data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehouse concepts
  • Professional certifications such as Scrum Master (CSM), CBAP, PMI-PBA, or PMP
  • Experience with project tracking tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or ServiceNow
