Short Description

The primary mission of the Cash Accounting Specialist is to ensure timely and accurate reporting, bank reconciliations, GL posting, and cash applications. This role supports the team’s effort to maximize cash flow and provide reporting to Leadership and to the Cash Application team. This position reports directly to the Senior Team Lead, Cash Applications with delegated duties such as training and mentoring teams to meet and exceed departmental objectives and goals, approving adjustments, KPI reporting, and other duties as assigned by Leadership. Solid Cash Accounting and Application experience is required.

Responsibilities

  •  Proactive Role with Billtrust to continue to improve match rate with Billtrust implementation to facilitate automatic cash application.
  • Act as a Point of Contact for Cash Apps team questions relating to BT and Other Cash App functions.
  • Oversee and establish guidelines to reduce the Unidentified Payments and resolve old UID balances. 
  • Manage the AR Escheatment Process
  • Prepare and maintain Daily and Month End Bank reconciliations. Work closely with Accounting and Internal Audit to maintain a communication channel between the departments.
  • Utilize appropriate judgment when processing unapplied payments and customer refunds, and payment reversals.
  • Create and Maintain SOPs
  • Work closely with Sr. Team Lead and Manager to maintain records for Returned Checks, Electronic Payment returns and Credit Card Chargebacks.
  • Maintain relationships with internal customers to drive efficiencies in processes.
  • Lead projects and process improvements for Cash Application and Cross Train team to ensure coverage for all tasks.
  • Support systems testing and UAT when needed
  • Become a subject matter expert and support the analytical needs of the Cash Applications Department
  • Takes on additional tasks/responsibilities as needed
  • Acts as back up to the Sr. Team Lead when needed
  • Can see complex issues through completion
  • May require additional hours outside of the 8-5 PM work week

Requirements

    Professional Experience

    3-5 Years Cash Accounting and Cash Applications Experience

    Educational Background

    Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
