Job Purpose
The Customer Contract Compliance Manager is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of sales contract compliance across the organization, including conducting internal compliance reviews and overseeing customer-initiated contract audits. This role serves as the central point of coordination for all sales contract compliance activities, acting as the primary liaison between Herc Rentals, its customers, and internal stakeholders.
The successful candidate will drive audit engagements from initiation through resolution, coordinating cross-functional teams to gather, validate, analyze, and organize complex operational, financial, billing, and contractual data. They will be responsible for translating audit findings into clear, customer-ready reports and presentations that effectively communicate compliance outcomes, address identified discrepancies, and support constructive customer relationships.
This highly visible role requires a combination of contract audit expertise, project management capability, analytical rigor, and exceptional communication skills. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who can manage multiple concurrent audits, influence stakeholders across the business, and ensure consistent compliance with contractual obligations while delivering a professional customer experience.
What you will do...
- Contract Compliance Audits - Lead the planning, execution, and management of internal contract compliance audits to evaluate adherence to contractual terms, pricing structures, service-level agreements, and company policies.
- Customer Audit Management - Serve as the primary point of contact for all customer-initiated contract audits. Manage the complete audit lifecycle, including audit intake, scoping, data collection, analysis, response development, customer meetings, dispute resolution, and final audit closure.
- Coordination & Project Leadership - Act as the central coordinator for audit activities, establishing timelines, assigning deliverables, and ensuring cross-functional participation to meet audit deadlines and customer expectations.
- Cross-Functional Data Collection & Analysis - Partner closely with Operations, Finance, Billing, Sales, Legal, and other departments to collect, validate, reconcile, and analyze data necessary to support audit requests and compliance reviews.
- Customer-Facing Reporting & Presentations - Develop executive-level audit reports, presentations, and supporting documentation that clearly communicate findings, explain methodologies, address customer concerns, and demonstrate contractual compliance.
- Contract Interpretation & Compliance Guidance - Interpret contractual terms, pricing schedules, rebate structures, and service commitments to evaluate compliance and provide guidance to internal stakeholders on contractual obligations.
- Issue Resolution & Corrective Actions - Investigate compliance exceptions and audit findings, identify root causes, recommend corrective actions, and partner with business leaders to implement sustainable solutions.
- Process Improvement - Analyze audit trends, identify recurring compliance risks, and recommend process enhancements that improve operational controls, reduce audit exposure, and strengthen overall contract compliance performance.
- Documentation & Record Management - Maintain comprehensive records of audit activities, supporting documentation, customer communications, findings, and resolutions in accordance with company policies and contractual requirements.
- Stakeholder Communication - Provide regular updates to senior leadership and key stakeholders regarding audit status, emerging risks, findings, customer concerns, and resolution progress.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Legal Studies, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in contract compliance, contract audit, financial audit, contract administration, revenue assurance, or a related function.
- Proven experience serving as the lead coordinator for internal and external audits involving multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze large datasets and validate compliance against contract terms and pricing agreements.
- Experience interacting directly with customers, vendors, auditors, or external stakeholders in a professional and consultative manner.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience working with ERP systems, billing platforms, and CRM systems such as Oracle and Salesforce.
Skills
- Experience in the equipment rental, construction, industrial services, transportation, logistics, or related industries.
- Experience with Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) systems and contract repositories.
- Familiarity with data visualization and business intelligence tools including Power BI, Qlik, or similar platforms.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives without direct reporting authority.
- Background in customer-facing compliance reviews, pricing audits, rebate audits, or commercial contract administration.

Pay Range: $95,000 - $115,000
