Job Summary

This position is responsible for the Administrative functions of Oracle's Hyperion products including Hyperion Planning (HP), Financial Data Quality Manager (FDM), and Financial Reporting Studio (FRS). The Hyperion Planning Administrator is responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of the Corporate Planning system. This individual must be adept in all aspects of managing complex Hyperion environments (Development, Quality Assurance, and Production). The main objective of this position is to ensure the integrity of the planning systems utilized to report the monthly, quarterly and annual internal management reports.

Responsibilities

As an administrator, this position will be responsible for:

  • Managing all Hyperion functions as they relate to supporting the monthly close and forecasting,
  • Monthly maintenance, including metadata and mapping changes, changes to standard reports, supporting/coordinating software updates and patches, and any related testing, and managing all utilities and tools, including security for users,
  • Understanding shared services components for provisioning users via groups and knowledge of Life Cycle Management for promoting apps from Dev to QA to Production, and
  • Assessing how the system can help support changes in the business environment including acquisitions, dispositions, retrospective application of new accounting standards, executing plans, and developing future plans to leverage the application technology.

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Exhibit an understanding of the importance of a controlled environment for tracking configuration or data changes,
  • Work with other finance and accounting personnel and the regional business partners in the FP&A organization,
  • Be able to report information in a concise and meaningful manner,
  • Have a firm understanding of the structure and functionality of general ledger and accounting systems, and
  • Possess a desire for learning and understanding the company’s accounting and finance application structure to help maintain and improve Hyperion Planning and FDM.

 

Core Responsibilities:

System Administration:

  • Maintenance and documentation of rules logic, forms, and scripts in HP
  • Maintenance of mapping logic in Financial Data Quality Management (FDM)
  • Creation and maintenance of Hyperion Financial Reporting Studio reports, Smartview reports, and ad-hoc reporting
  • Processing and tracking metadata changes in FDM and HP
  • Maintain controlled processes for loading and validation of data
  • Promoting application changes from Dev to QA to Production
  • Liaise with the IT group/hosting provider to support system, servers, upgrades and patches
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of data sources and data outputs
  • Creation and implementation of process improvements which includes testing, validating and documenting change process
  • Adherence to tight close and reporting schedules
  • Provide training sessions and documentation for all end users of the Corporate Planning system
  • New user set-up and periodic review of existing users’ security rights

 

Process Improvements:

  • Assist with system configuration/modification to support acquisitions, divestitures, or retrospective accounting changes
  • Collaborate with business teams to develop or clarify requirements for improving and expanding the capability of HP, FDM, and reporting

Educational Background

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with IT focus

Hyperion Certification preferred but not required

Required Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years of hands on experience as a Hyperion Planning/Hyperion Essbase and FDM system administrator on Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System (version 11.X preferred)
  • Experience working with Hyperion Planning, Financial Data Quality Management (FDM), Financial Reporting Studio, Workspace, Calc Manager, Rules, Grids, Smartview, EPMA, and Data Relationship Manager (DRM)
  • Effective project management, process planning and implementation skills
  • Strong accounting knowledge (journal entries, T-accounts, impact to financial statements)
  • Hyperion EPM Trouble Shooting, Tuning, Disaster Recovery, Backups and Restore, Security
  • Knowledge of other Financial Systems (i.e. Hyperion Financial Management, Oracle General Ledger, etc.) and their integration into the overall Oracle Hyperion EPM suite
  • Strong knowledge of financial/business planning cycles and processes
  • Execution/documentation of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
  • Experience with archiving and migration
  • Experience assisting with Hyperion EPM Components Installation, Patching, Upgrades

Skills

  • Familiarity with accounting system procedures, and various General Ledger systems
  • An orientation toward positive change and continuous improvement
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills are required for this position
  • Ability to make sense of complex data, understanding of business drivers, and ability to ask thoughtful and probing questions is a must
  • Excellent understanding of the difference between internal and external reporting requirements
  • Management reporting requirements supported by the Hyperion Planning vs. legal reporting requirements by the consolidation supported by Hyperion Financial Management system
  • Strong team player – collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources; has experience working with others on a global basis; applies knowledge to coach and mentor others
  • Demonstrates an ability to be a quick learner with a desire to continually build his/her skill set and experiences to better serve both internal and external customers
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt approaches based on the situation presented and evolving business needs
  • Strong time management skills and effectively able to prioritize tasks as needed
  • Ability to work constructively under pressure
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to conduct training sessions and engage with business partners in a local and global setting effectively
