Job Purpose
This position functions within the Tax Department and reports to the Director, Tax. As a Corporate Income Tax Manager, you will oversee income tax compliance, support tax reporting, and contribute to strategic tax planning initiatives across a large, multi-entity, growing company. You will work closely with accounting, finance, team members, and executive leadership to ensure compliance while helping optimize the company's overall tax position.
The primary responsibilities of this position are to review and manage the timely and accurate filing of all federal, state and local, and Canadian income tax returns, as well as lead tax provision and assist with special projects as required. This individual must be strong across federal, state and local, and Canadian income taxes, and tax provision. This position will supervise one direct report and work closely with numerous departments to ensure compliance with tax laws and company policies. In addition, this position will assist with other tax duties within the department as needed.
What you will do...
- Manage federal, state and local, and Canadian income tax compliance for multiple entities, ensuring timely and accurate preparation, review, and filing of all income tax returns.
- Calculate and ensure payment of all tax return extensions, return payments, and estimated payments for all jurisdictions as required.
- Monitor compliance with multi-state and Canadian regulations, and track and resolve all notices received by the Company from taxing jurisdictions, communicating any significant issues to the Director, Tax / VP Tax.
- Prepare and review the tax provision, and related financial reporting activities, meeting all internally and externally imposed deadlines.
- Research and interpret tax laws, regulations, and emerging developments, and support tax planning strategies and business initiatives to improve tax efficiency.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory agencies, and serve as a partner with strong judgement in the tax audit process.
- Partner with the business to solve problems that matter most.
- Accurately and thoroughly prepare and maintain strong internal controls and documentation supporting tax positions, meeting all internally and externally imposed deadlines.
- Communicate tax matters clearly to non-tax stakeholders and leadership.
- Supervise and develop one direct report.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in a public company income tax department, public accounting, or a combination of both.
- Big 4 public accounting experience, or experience with a large national/regional firm, strongly preferred.
- Strong technical background across federal, state and local, and Canadian income taxes, tax provision, and forecasting for a multi-entity corporate structure; indirect tax experience a plus.
- Proficient with ONESOURCE Income Tax and ONESOURCE Tax Provision required or strongly preferred; Corptax also valued.
- Experience with data analytics, ERP, and tax reporting/compliance systems preferred, including Alteryx, SAP, Oracle, and OneStream; Vertex experience a plus.
- Strong ability to analyze large data sets, identify trends, validate tax positions, and support accurate compliance, provision, forecasting, and reporting.
- Retail and service industry experience is valued.
- Prior supervisory experience with the ability to manage and develop one direct report.

- Flexible, solutions-oriented approach with the ability to think critically and creatively within the framework of tax compliance, tax accounting, and corporate governance.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Pay Range: $115,000 - $145,000
