Job Purpose

This leadership role is responsible for implementation and operational aspects of the Herc network and voice infrastructure, including the enterprise Cisco and Fortinet network environment and the Cisco WebEx Calling & Contact Center voice platform. This role will coordinate technical activities of the team to provide stable operation, high performance, and availability of the core network throughout the organization. Provides cross-functional technical oversight, and compliance with technical standards. Be able to assist with coaching, escalation and delegation of tasks and activities. Development of the team will be a priority in supporting our growing initiatives.

What you will do...

• Provide senior technical leadership and strategic oversight to network and voice teams, defining priorities and aligning resources to achieve organizational, security, and business continuity goals.
• Develop and execute the roadmap for network and voice infrastructure evolution, ensuring systems support current and future business requirements, emerging technologies, and security standards.
• Collaborate closely with executive management, Network Engineering, Desktop Engineering, Cloud Services, Applications, and other business units to advise on technology strategy, architecture, and enterprise projects..
• Oversee the documentation of process design, workflows, and operational standards; promote knowledge management and process excellence across all teams.
• Serve as the Senior Operational Lead for all network/voice managed services, assuring rapid incident resolution, proactive service management, and achievement of agreed-upon SLAs.
• Manage departmental financial planning, including budget development, capital/expense tracking, and forecasting for large-scale investments.
• Oversee performance monitoring and analytics for all network and voice systems, presenting executive summaries with actionable insights to IT leadership.
  Function as the highest escalation point for complex operational issues, ensuring timely resolution and root-cause analysis.
• Lead critical problem investigations, drive cross-departmental initiatives, and continuously improve operational efficiency and disaster recovery posture.
• Represent Herc Rentals in strategic vendor management, negotiating service agreements, leading vendor performance reviews, and managing escalations across a complex multi-vendor environment.
• Oversee project management and coordination for major upgrades, deployments, and infrastructure transformation initiatives.
• Mentor, develop, and retain top network and voice engineering talent; develop succession plans and support team member career growth.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant work experience in network and voice solutions.
• Technical experience in network, VoIP, data center, and wireless in an enterprise environment.
• Hands-on experience administering and supporting a Cisco networking infrastructure (routing, switching, wireless) and Fortinet security/network infrastructure (firewalls, SD-WAN) in an enterprise environment.
• Experience managing a distributed Fortinet SD-WAN environment with many locations, data centers, & cloud connectivity.
• Experience working with, designing, and supporting IP Telephony, Linux, Microsoft Server, VMware virtual environments, specifically datacenter networking.
• Experience with Cisco WebEx Calling & Contact Center or similar cloud-based enterprise voice and contact center platforms.
• Experience with Cloud Services, including AWS, OCI and Azure.
• Experience leading projects developing and/or deploying network infrastructure.
• Experience managing telecom, hardware, and service vendors to meet business objectives and SLAs.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills & problem resolution.
• ITIL certification preferred.
• Ability to work on-call, nights, and weekends as needed for operations & projects.
• Ability to travel up to 25% as needed for project delivery.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience.
• An advanced degree is preferred.
• Fortinet certification (NSE7 / NSE8) strongly preferred.
• Cisco certification (CCNP, CCIE) strongly preferred; other industry certifications (AWS, ITIL) also preferred.
