Job Function

The Vice President, Associate General Counsel for Real Estate at Herc Rentals is the expert attorney for all legal real estate issues, questions, and action items. You will be a part of a legal team that supports continued business improvement and growth.


  • Develop and manage internal client relations to ensure collaboration and provide strategic support.
  • Closely partner with and provide legal input and advice to the Director of Real Estate.
  • Serve as the first point of contact with respect to the legal aspects of all real estate initiatives
  • Prepare, draft, and negotiate a variety of commercial, retail, and professional lease agreements, amendments, facility use agreements, license agreements, and easements.
  • Review, redline and negotiate Landlords’ form of real estate leases, amendments, subordination agreements and estoppel certificates.
  • Assist with the identification of branch locations and the closing of the lease, purchase or sale of real estate, which would include conducting due diligence, performing title, survey, and environmental review, addressing zoning issues, clearing any title or survey issues, and preparing the conveyance and closing documents.
  • Negotiate, draft, and review construction and design agreements.
  • Advise on and support resolution of issues related to construction, and design contracts.
  • Provide real estate functional support to the business development teams for M&A
  • Manage real estate related litigation and regulatory matters
  • Support cross functional team during site selection process.
  • Manage outside counsel to achieve objectives in a cost-effective way
  • Serve as advisor to the Company’s Real Estate Committee and attend all Committee meetings.


  • 7+ years of commercial real estate and construction experience with a focus on retail and industrial sectors
  • 3 years of experience supporting an in-house corporate/legal real estate and construction team preferred


  • Must have a J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school, and an active member in good standing of any state Bar
