Job Purpose

The Senior HR Business Partner serves as a strategic advisor aligned with business leaders to provide direct coordination and access to the HR Leadership Team and service areas. This role leads the strategic focus and ensures delivery of objectives at an enterprise level. The Senior HRBP drives HR strategy through the business in partnership with senior and local management, leveraging deep expertise across the full range of HR generalist disciplines to deliver measurable business outcomes.

 

What you will do...

  • Lead local and regional deployment of HR strategies, ensuring business case objectives for HR solutions and policy are met.
  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to senior business leaders, providing guidance on organizational design, workforce planning, and talent strategy.
  • Focus HR initiatives to meet operational needs; oversee day-to-day HR activities across employee relations, compensation, labor relations, benefits, staffing, training, and succession planning.
  • Champion employee advocacy and act as a key liaison between employees and leadership to foster a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Lead workforce planning efforts for assigned business units, identifying talent gaps and developing proactive solutions.
  • Oversee staffing and recruitment activities including approving employment requisitions, participating in interviews and career fairs, and ensuring consistent and effective onboarding for all new employees.
  • Drive successful implementation of all COE initiatives; serve as an active partner with local management to implement HR programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Mentor, develop, and coach staff — including junior HRBPs and people managers — providing guidance and leadership aligned with business objectives.
  • Lead complex employee relations investigations, delivering written findings and recommended corrective actions.
  • Ensure consistent discipline practices and full legal compliance; provide expert guidance to management on HR laws and regulations.
  • Ensure DOT compliance across all applicable roles and functions.
  • Lead union avoidance strategies and support positive employee relations initiatives.
  • Leverage HR data and workforce analytics to identify trends, measure program effectiveness, and inform strategic decisions.
  • Communicate ideas and recommendations to continuously improve HR strategy and COE service delivery. 

 

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5–8 years of progressive HR experience with a proven track record in a senior HR Business Partner or HR generalist leadership role. Demonstrated experience in employee relations, recruitment, labor relations, compensation, and HR strategy deployment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or related field required. Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline preferred.
  • SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification strongly preferred.
  • Must meet all applicable DOT compliance requirements. Valid driver's license may be required depending on business unit assignment.

  • Strong employee relations and conflict resolution skills, including experience conducting complex investigations.
  • Proven ability to influence and partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Workforce planning and organizational design expertise.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience using HR analytics to drive decisions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to mentor and develop HR professionals and people managers.
  • Experience with HR technology platforms (e.g., SuccessFactors, ADP Lyric) preferred.
  • Strong project management and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
